Wai’alae Elementary Public Charter School offers an innovative teaching and learning environment grounded in experiential and service learning. Wai’alae has been a leader in elementary education in Hawai’i for almost 100 years.

Our core curriculums include teacher-designed integrated thematic units based in science (NGSS) and social studies (NCSS) standards, a balanced literacy workshop approach for language arts, and the Bridges in Math program developed by the Math Learning Center in Oregon. Professional development is highly supported and encouraged, as is sharing Wai’alae’s educational philosophy through presenting at conferences and workshops and school visitations. The mission of Wai'alae Elementary Public Charter School’s educational faculty is to facilitate student learning in an environment that immerses learners in Wai'alae’s Vision Elements in order for students to develop new understandings of how the world works and their place in it, grow in academic skills, and to build personal understanding of their development in Wai'alae's Vision Elements.
