About Wai’alae

Wai’alae Elementary Public Charter School is a Preschool (Special Needs) to Grade 5 elementary school located in the Kaimuki section of East Honolulu.

In 1995, the school became Hawai’i’s first Student-Centered School and then four years later, with the passage of Hawai’i’s “charter school law”, evolved into a New Century Public Charter School.

Our Mission:
Wai’alae Elementary Public Charter School is a student centered school that honors the whole child. It is committed to nurturing a community of learners who strive for excellence and innovation; empowering all members of the community to actively engage in a democratic society.

The vision of Wai’alae School is to prepare our children for the 21st century as:
